Bridge Water Canal Trust

Educational resources to bring a destination canal to life

Every stretch of the Bridgewater canal has a story to tell about human ingenuity, endurance and events that shaped Salford and the world. The canal is a place of global importance. All along the canal there are stories to tell, from 1761 right up to the present day.

The Bridgewater Canal in Salford is buzzing with walkers, cyclists, anglers, volunteers, school groups, families and the local community, we were appointed to develop a visual educational trail and online resources to appeal to a family and school audience.

Using an illustrative textured style we developed a visual language for the resources. With a rich palette of colours reflective of the canal’s unique orange colour we highlighted natural, architectural and heritage items to find along the route.

To enhance the visitors engagement we also developed 18 online activities that each followed the visual style and used colours from each of the canal areas.

“Working with Altogether Creative has been an absolute delight and we are extremely happy with the designs they created for our ‘I Spy the Bridgewater Canal in Salford’ and educational download materials. They are brilliant designers and the imagery they created is beautiful, perfectly suited to encouraging young families to explore the canal. They were very easy to work with, we enjoyed the process as well as the finished products.”
