January reset

For us at Altogether, January is less about jumping straight in, and more about resetting, reconnecting, getting inspired, and laying the groundwork for the months ahead. And it’s been a good first month back in the studio.

Kicking things off with colour

Second week back we headed along to an event with Colour Collective and GF Smith, talking all things colour and creativity. GF Smith shared how they’ve refocused their purpose and brand around colour, really leaning into what makes them them. A genuinely inspiring way to start the year (and a very colourful one too).

A birthday lunch break (the important stuff)

We squeezed in a team lunch at Wagamama to celebrate a birthday, which was the perfect excuse for a break, a catch-up, and a reminder that the small moments matter just as much as the big ones.

Portfolio afternoons and fresh talent

Matty spent an afternoon up at the University of Sunderland, reviewing design portfolios and meeting the next generation of creatives. It’s always refreshing seeing new work and new perspectives, a good way to give a bit back too.

Changing up the routine

We’ve also been mixing up our usual working habits a little, including a bit of co-working at Pattern’s coffee morning. Sometimes a change of scenery and sharing stories over a good coffee really boosts you.

New projects already underway

Work-wise, January has started strong. We’ve been appointed to several new projects, including an exciting one with Culture North Yorkshire, more on that soon. We’ve also started the year with a mix of digital and branding projects, so it’s been very much heads down in the studio, getting stuck in! There’s lots happening behind the scenes that we can’t wait to share.

Community

Outside of client work, Sarah’s also been busy planning upcoming Ladies, Wine & Design Newcastle events. Last night she co-hosted the January Natter and Nibbles evening, bringing women and non-binary creatives together for a relaxed night of chatting about goals and community-building – a lovely vibe for the end of the month.

So that’s January: a bit of a reset, a bit of inspiration, some new work kicking off, and plenty of good moments in between.

We’re heading into the rest of the year feeling refreshed, excited, and ready for what’s coming next!
