This May, to celebrate our ninth birthday, our team attended the OFFF Festival in Barcelona, an incredible gathering that celebrates creativity, digital innovation and the personal journeys behind inspiring work in design and animation globally.
We had a jam packed 3 days of inspiration and we’ve only just begun to unpack it all!
Samar Maakroun drawing from her rich Lebanese heritage, amazed us with stunning multi-language typography, playful shapes, and graphic doodles, showcasing the beauty of visual communication.
Mat Voyce’s talk was refreshingly honest, opening up about the stress and overthinking that many creatives face. His story of transitioning from a graphic design role into freelancing was both relatable and motivating. The big takeaway? Practice makes perfect. Mat emphasised the importance of creating self-initiated work, ultimately attracting the projects he wanted from brands he admired.
Anna Ginsburg gave an empowering presentation, boldly sharing her short film ‘Private Parts,’ encouraging open conversations around sex, sexuality, and stigmas about the female body. Her animated piece exploring beauty standards vividly showed how society’s ideals have rapidly evolved, especially highlighting the trend of dismemberment, where women share their bodies online without showing their faces, reflecting ongoing pressures and objectification. A real memorable and stand out talk!
Lauren Hartstone from Sibling Rivalry delivered an inspiring talk focused on bringing genuine emotion into sports branding. Her case study for Apple’s MLB Friday Night Baseball demonstrated brilliantly how powerful storytelling can elevate a brand experience. The attention to detail was incredible, with moments of the event brought to life in beautifully shot imagery.
