Football is powerful in these parts. Whatever your background, whatever your circumstances, we all go through the emotions together. United. Since 2008, Newcastle United’s charity, Newcastle United Foundation, have been proudly harnessing the power of football to effect positive change.

The Foundation has visionary plans for an ambitious development to deliver a world-class sports facility for the people of Newcastle and beyond. Named Project Pitchside, it aims to transform lives, give the community a new lease of life and change it for the better, forever. A community asset for thousands of young people and their families, located just a goal-kick from St. James’ Park. A vital project to continue to evolve the work of this leading sporting and education charity.

We were appointed to work with Newcastle United Foundation to create the collateral for their fundraising drive. With a project of huge importance they need significant investment and support for the new centre, we were thrilled to steer the communications to help the Foundation begin their fundraising journey. The collateral would need to appeal to a huge audience, from encouraging investment and support for the project, to harnessing community interest and raising awareness of the plans.

We established a narrative based around the concept of ‘United’, not only linking to Newcastle United FC, but demonstrating the whole ethos of this incredible new sport and education centre, a place that will unite communities, create a meeting place and focal point for local residents, other charities, schools and community groups. ‘United at the heart of the community’ sets the scene to tell the story of the why, what and how and importantly the social need for this new community sporting space.

We wanted to create intrigue yet deliver content in an engaging way. A book-style package opens, revealing video content to capture attention and an intriguing brochure pocket with die-cut text reveals and hints at the underlying brochure.
